Financial Representative

There are many insurance agents out there. But if you are looking for an insurance professional who will take care of your needs like a family member, you’ve come to the right place.

We sat down with Larry Laskin to spend a few minutes getting to know him on a professional and personal level. This question/answer format will give you a glimpse into Mr. Laskin’s background, qualifications, and how he may be able to help you.

  1. How long have you been in the insurance field?

“I have been helping people protect their futures and families via the use of insurance since 1995. At last count, I have helped over 1500 individuals and families secure either disability and/or life insurance.”

  2. While you work on different types of insurance, why did you decide to focus on disability insurance?

“When I was a young adult, like most people in their 20’s, I never really understood the importance of disability insurance. When I entered the insurance business, I learned how it could benefit people but, thankfully, had never had any personal experience with it. I was active, athletic, and a disability seemed like the farthest thing from my mind. But things changed. In 2003, I became unexpectedly disabled for 6 months with severe back pains. I got to work one day and could barely move. Over a short period of time, it got progressively worse to a point that I could not sit or even sleep in a bed. I ended up sleeping flat on my back on the floor for many months. The pain was so bad that there were times that I could barely talk.”

“My appreciation for it really made me understand even more the importance of owning disability insurance. Without it, it would have been a major strain on our finances. When you are in severe pain, the last thing you want to think about is where your income is going to come from. Although I always sold a lot of disability insurance, since my injury, I have focused primarily on the need for this type of insurance”

  3. What do you find most rewarding?

“It makes me feel good knowing that I have helped people secure their financial protection by helping them obtain disability insurance. I had a physician call me a couple of years ago to thank me profusely, because she was now disabled, and although she was very hesitant to purchase disability insurance 8 years ago, I convinced her of the importance of having it. She has been on claim ever since.”

  4. What can clients expect when they work with you?

“When a client works with me, they can expect to be treated with respect in terms of their time and the confidentiality of their information. I will be honest and will do everything I can to explain the products in easy to understand language. I get back to my clients when I promise. I respond to voicemails and emails the same day, except under extenuating circumstances. I will help them determine the proper coverages to fit their needs and budget.”

  5. What makes your approach unique?

“My approach is unique in that I do most of my business over the internet. I treat my clients with the utmost respect and am very easily accessible. In fact, most of my clients have my cell phone number and know that they can call me anytime.”

  6. How does your specialty help benefit your clients?

“My specialty allows me to present the best products based on a person’s income, occupation, need and health. I am able to pre-underwrite most cases before it goes to the home office. This helps to avoid frustrations by the client. Although I represent Guardian, a strong disability carrier in the market, I am able to offer many other companies disability insurance products”

  7. How much of your business is through referrals?

“Much of my business comes from satisfied clients who refer me to their friends and family members. As a result, I am fortunate to have built a large client base. I have consistently been recognized as one of the top disability insurance producers in the country.”

  8. Can you tell us a bit about your family?

“I have been married for 20 years and have three children. I live in Frederick, Maryland and enjoy working on our house. I also enjoy basketball, coaching soccer, bowling, boating and taking long walks with my wife”
